In all 27 Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration (FOLUR) countries, both women and men make crucial contributions in commodity value chains, agricultural landscapes and forest conservation and restoration. Yet, women’s roles and contribution are often not fully recognized nor reflected in decision-making and relevant development programmes. Promoting gender equality is one of the key tenets of FOLUR, which recognizes that women and men should be equally involved and empowered to transform and make global food and land use systems more sustainable.
